General Store Manager Job Description
The General Manager (GM) will work closely with leadership to coordinate and facilitate day-to-day operations; overseeing business progress. The GM will lead the success of the storefront by implementing SOPs, supervising staff, tracking and measuring KPIs, ensuring customer satisfaction, and staying informed about all Local and State regulations. The GM will be in charge of ensuring Blue River™ Cambridge maintains compliance on all fronts and will be the face of the store when it comes to interacting with law enforcement, landlords, vendors, and employees.
Qualified GM applicants must have a bachelor’s degree and retail management experience. Experience in the cannabis industry, especially cannabis retail management experience, is required. An ideal candidate knows how to motivate team members, solve problems quickly and effectively, and take intentional steps towards accomplishing goals.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Create and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for dispensary functions including inventory, check-in, security, and daily opening and closing duties
- Manage dispensary staff, including interviewing, hiring, onboarding, conducting performance evaluations, training, and education
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of all strains and products in store inventory as well as industrywide product and trend knowledge
- Maintain employee files in compliance with CCC regulations
- Initiate marketing initiatives and campaigns to boost dispensary sales
- Create and manage staff schedule
- Work with Inventory Manager(s) to establish relationships with wholesalers to maintain optimal inventory at all times
- Ensure safety and satisfaction of all customers and employees
- Ensure ongoing staff education on all recreational cannabis products, strains, and consumption methods
- Discipline staff
- Assist in development of budgets and sales forecasts
- Assist Executives
- Oversee store compliance
- Liaise with Cannabis Control Commission (CCC), law enforcement, vendors, landlords, and local community as needed
Qualifications / Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree and/or 5-7 years retail management experience, preferably with at least 1-3 years in the cannabis industry
- Comprehensive knowledge of METRC
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn MA adult-use cannabis laws and regulatory compliance is required.
- Ability to motivate team members, solve problems quickly and effectively, and take intentional steps towards accomplishing goals.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities and meet deadlines, as well as strong conflict management skills.
- Good interpersonal skills and proven ability to positively influence people; must be capable of effectively interacting at all levels in the organization.
- Excellent communication skills and leadership both verbally and written
- Minimum 21 years of age
- Must possess valid driver’s license or state ID
- Must pass any and all required background checks
- Must be able to be approved for a current state cannabis worker license or permit.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
